ATCA, Washington, D.C., USA, 6 October 2009 – Barco, a leader in professional display and visualization solutions, announces that it has been selected by NAV CANADA to provide an LCD-based networked graphics display solution for their CAATS and GAATS+ Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, currently estimated at 500 units.
"We are pleased to be working with Barco on this important project, now in the final stages of contract negotiations," said John Crichton, President & Chief Executive Officer of NAV CANADA.
In response to NAV CANADA's industry-wide request for proposal for an upgraded graphics and main ATC display system, Barco offered NAV CANADA the market leading ISIS 2Kx2K LCD display along with the Display Processor Module – DPM-7700, a cost-effective networked graphics solution. With more than 8,000 displays operational worldwide, the ISIS 2Kx2k display has earned its reputation as the most reliable ATC display in the market. The new DPM-7700 networked display server can simultaneously drive dual 4 mega-pixel displays (including dual 2Kx2K displays) independent of the host processor and operating system.
The DPM-7700 leverages multiple mission-critical solutions provided for many applications that implement a common architecture using COTS component building blocks. This provides a program-specific solution to meet difficult image/display processing requirements. Over the past 20 years, Barco has served NAV CANADA by providing visualization solutions, including record and playback of air traffic control operations.
